Dig in and prepare for the long haul.

The recession is starting to bite and you can't get away from the gloom on the radio or in the newspapers. However the message from Richard Branson is if you are best in field then don't cut back on quality because good companies always survive.

Branson has personally gone through 4 recessions in his business lifetime. He believes
Fortunes are made out of recessions. A lot of entrepreneurs get going in the economic depths because the barriers to entry are lower.

My concern is that soon the unemployed level will go over the 2 million mark here in the UK and there will be an even further tightening of belts to come before people become more positive in outlook. Attitudes are changing slightly but I would like to see more of the 'mainstream' acting positively on not wasting resources. If more Cleantech and Greentech businesses can get going in this downturn then ultimately we will all benefit from efficiencies gained through the 'downcycle'.

I pass Fiddlers Ferry Power Station (picture above)quite frequently and was interested to see what sort of emissions it was responsible for. I was flabbergasted to see it is responsible for 12,800,000 Tons of CO2 creating 11,400,00 Mwh Energy.
Drax the largest plant in the UK emits 22.6m Tons of CO2 per annum. We have a long way to go to reduce this horrific amount of Carbon going into our atmosphere.
